Langdon Lake Association is sending all homeowners these important reminders for safety during the summer months. The Association wishes all an enjoyable, relaxing and safe summer at the Lake.
The Langdon Lake Association Board of Directors adopted the following rules at its February 4, 2019, Board of Directors Meeting.
ADDITION TO GUIDELINES AND RULES NUMBER 4, SECTION 4.4:
a. Open fires are prohibited per the Oregon Department of Forestry when regulated closures are posted. Fires prohibited include campfires, charcoal fires, cooking fires, warming fires, tiki torches, candles and other sources that cannot be turned off with a valve. PROPANE FIRE PITS AND TRAEGER-STYLE WOOD BURNING GRILLS ARE PROHIBITED (NOTE: NEW CHANGE BY THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY).
AMENDMENT TO GUIDELINES AND RULES NUMBER 4, SECTION 4.6:
The Langdon Lake Association website will also give updated information of burning. Note that while open burning and fire pit burning are not allowed when the signs are posted, portable stoves, cooking devices and barbecues that use propane or liquid gas are permitted.
HELPFUL YEAR-ROUND FIRE TIPS
1. Fire extinguishers – upstairs and down
2. Fire blankets – can be used to extinguish small fires
3. Smoke detectors
4. Fire escape ladders – for escape from second floors
5. Keep access roads clear
6. Keep 100-foot garden hose attached to cabin
7. Keep chimneys clean and install spark arresters
8. Keep roofs clean of needles and debris
9. Have a 5-gallon bucket of water and a shovel available when using chainsaws or fire pits
10. Never leave burning fire pits unattended. Make sure all embers are extinguished.
BOATING SAFETY AT LANGDON LAKE
Langdon Lake Association has adopted the State of Oregon Watercraft Regulations as our guidelines. Please refer to Pages 11-13 in the Langdon Lake Rules and Guidelines booklet. Several highlights:
The Association only allows motorized watercraft on the lake that is registered in the name of the lease holder and has a sticker attesting to that fact affixed to the motorized watercraft.
Motorized watercraft shall generally be required to operate in a counter clockwise direction and be at least 100 feet from the shore.
Speeds shall be reasonable and safe for the conditions on the lake.
Permitted hours of watercraft usage of the lake is 10:00 AM—6:00 PM.
