UMATILLA ELECTRIC UNDERGROUND POWER INSTALLATION 8/22/16

If you were at the lake this past weekend, you noticed the freshly dug ditches on the NE side of the lake and by the main entrance. As was planned, UEC (Umatilla Electric Co-op) is in the process of burying all the main power lines, thus the reason for the mess.

I was approached with a lot of questions regarding estimated time for ditches to be covered and roads re-graveled or green areas reseeded. I spoke with the excavation project manager about this today. He said they will fill in ditches and re-gravel areas as soon as possible. Re-seeding green spots would happen after the entire project is completed. He realizes that there is a short window for any excavation at Tollgate...especially late in the summer. So he is racing against the clock to get everything done. Your patience is appreciated.

Another question was in regards to cost for the cabin owner to get underground power installed from a cabin site to the new underground power main line. There is no price per foot data on this. I was told by UEC contact person Nancy Lang that there are too many variables to give a flat rate cost. These variables include whether your meter base needs updated, whether you will need conduit in the ditch, whether you will have 200 AMP wire or Class 320 wire installed, what type of digging is involved...rocky or dirt, etc. etc. The other thought mentioned by Nancy was the fact that the entire project for burying the main power needs to be completed before cabin feeder lines are hooked in. It might be best to wait until Spring 2017 before cabin owners begin their own underground power install

Further questions on this can be answered by Nancy Lang. Her number is 541-564-4367

Finally one last question asked was whether there will be any underground power installed on the North side of the lake by Hwy 204. The answer is yes. From what I understand, that is the final phase for underground power install at Langdon Lake.

As I said, these folks are racing against the clock with their excavation and power install. They are doing their best to make everyone happy and not break a septic or water line in the process. They are estimating that everything should be finished by late September if all goes well.

Let me know if any questions.
